The one in the foreground is a congestus. The one in the background is a cumulo-nimbus. They both belong to the cumulus family. But the cu-nimbus is the final phase of their cycle of life. I believe that the storm was really really imminent. I do love clouds because flying is one of my hobbits, I've seen hundred of shots of clouds but this one is really spectacular! Compliments!

added this to my favorite images...one of the best cloud shots i have seen in ages... forgive me, i didn't see it in your gallery yesterday cause my eue was drawn to the colors in the shutters of your last pic... today then when ireturned to your gallery , i did a complete doubletake...ohhh, it is brilliant!!... majestic stormy clouds that capture - it is magnificent and certainly demands to be looked at ..and a standing ovation....
