Description

An entry for the challenge at The Eclectic Guild which is Spring Rain. I modeled the spider web, not perfect but it worked. Comments, suggestions welcome.

This is wonderful, the spiderweb is excellent, the way you have the light reflecting in it is perfect and so is the POV of looking through the wagon wheel. A fantastic entry for the challenge.

Okay, you asked for suggestions, so I have a few. :-) First, I think your wagon wheel needs to be more rounded. I think it looks a bit too "polygonal". The texture is great on it, though. Second, the spider webs look good but maybe you should consider making the strands a bit thinner and yet more visible at the same time, if you can find a way to do that. If you look at real spider webs, the strands are very, very thin, often almost difficult to see. I guess I'm just saying that they are too obvious, they need to be more subtle in my opinion. I think you have the shape down perfectly, but in places the web is completely invisible (which looks out of place with the strands that big). Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful picture, but you asked! :-) I agree with jjean21, the pov is awesome (not that I'm much of an expert on that). The spider hanging on the web looks incredible, great job there. My only other suggestion is a taste thing, maybe an animal (like a cat!) in the midground, to give it a bit more life, while at the same time increasing the sense of wildness. Hope I've been helpful to you and best of luck!

See, now my first thought was "wow, the spider web is perfect!" This followed closely by "OMG, you modeled it yourself??" A couple of thick bits here and there, but the overall effect is fantastic! Especially with all the water droplets!! And no, I wouldn't add any more creatures - especially a cat. Cats being domesticated animals, that would take away from the remoteness of the image, IMO. If you really did want to add an animal, I'd suggest a wild animal, like a chipmunk or something. Anyway, I like it just fine the way it is. :-)

What you've captured so beautifully here, is the "Essence" or impression, of a dewy country mourning!! That quality of light that catches some glimmering strands of the web, and not others. The warm morning light that greets the early riser! Fabulous image!!
