Description

Trying out the terrain editor in Bryce, also created the castle, bridge and windmills. Would like to know how you would improve on this design to make it better.

Hi, I like this picture a lot! The only thing about it that doesn't quite work is the foreground cliffs -- the texture just seems too large and coarse here. But the mood and overall look is terrific! Well done.

This is a nice image, but could use some fine tuning. The bridge seems to be the focal point, and it should be the castle. If the statues were either done in another material, or removed from the bridge it would help that. The POV needs to be a bit closer to bring the eye into the image. The dream like look of the image is interrupted by the bright greens of the grass, and hills. If that could be softened a touch it would help the flow, too. This is a nice piece of work, it just needs some final touch ups. IMHO.

Something in the proportions between those trees and windmills doesn't seem quite right ...

Tons of work in this image! Since you asked, I will offer criticism on only one point. Personal preference perhaps, but I believe this image deserves less haziness in the atmosphere. Try it and repost. It'll make the castle look a lot better. Okay, one more thing. take the windmills out. Would love to see this again, if you change anything.

I really like the design and modeling work you've done here. The textures have a long way to go, though. Especially the foreground terrain texture, it's horribly jaggedy and is way too "stock library" to be used. If you are going to use it, crank the scale way down, so it hides it's fractal seed. Also, you need to turn up the resolution of your terrains, to add detail and get rid of the blocky, pixelated feel. I think the rooftops should be reds or browns, it would add focus to the castle. And the bridge material from this distance doesn't do it justice. The backdrop-area looks nice, but the stock-looking Bryce sky ruins the realism. Try inserting a photo-sky, or tweaking the skylab a bit? I think you're off to a wonderful start! Basically, spend some time texturing, see what happens?

Impressive modeling. Good composition. The foreground terrain texture needs to be different and perhaps and different angle for the sky. Other than that the piece is very good. Keep at it!!
