Description

This is for the April Monthly Challenge, Night Shots. Something I have always wanted to try just to see if it worked. This photo was shot through the lense of my telescope. I don't have any adapters, just the camera and the scope. Only 1/4 of 1/2 moon came out, I suspect because of the curve of both lenses. Now that I know the end result, I think I'll leave space to the Hubble.

Impressive shot - would warrant some more experimentation to see if you could get a compo where you could crop the vignetting.

Houston we have success!!!! What an excellent idea!!!! And yes, being a lunatic helps as TedZ says. My husband certainly (though always supportive) doesn't get the things I'll do to try to get a good picture!

I have thought of trying this. I do have an old, old, old reflector scope but now adapters. Can you tell me how you did it and perhaps exposure info? Even if you leave it to Hubble, this was fun and rewarding, don't you think? Good shot! If you want to get back, you are free to IM me anytime. TomDart.

That is awesome. Im sure you could take a picture of other planets with a powerful enough telescope.

Don't give up, the first time I saw the Mt Blanc in France was at a distance of 111 km and I had only a 35 mm lens - the binocular gave a simimalr effect but I was very proud of succeeding and looking to this shot that's exactly I would wish to you, be proud of it because you've done a great job! Not everyone has a Hubble telescope to use.... :)
