Description
The Shturmovik, with its armoured engine and crew compartment was probably the best ground attack aircraft of WW2.When attacking it flew at an altitude of only 30 to 50 feet, firing horizontally at its targets. It played a decisive role in the battle of Kursk (1943) - the biggest tank battle in history with 2,000 tanks engaged on both sides.
