Description

Something different today :o) ... my b'day gift for Jan-Carel ~aka~ jcv2 As I always enjoy his fascinating landscape shots I thought I should post a landscape shot from a wonderful place for him. Happy birthday, JC! All the best to you! May all your wishes come true! May God bless you! *b'day hugz* This wonderful place is the Lake of Reschen (Lago di Resia) in South Tyrol. The region is called L'Alto Adige, where the river Etsch (Adige) rises. The view is in northern direction towards Reschenpass (Passo di Resia) The tower you see is the landmark of the Upper Vinschgau. When the reservoir was laid out the town of Graun (Curon) fell victim to the flood. The inhabitants had to move to a higher place. Various stories and myths are known from this event. The top of the steeple is still seen. People tell sometimes the bells can be heard which are rung deep down in the lake. Thank you for your nice comments and rankings on my yesterday's upload It had to be a rose... I always appreciate your words a lot! A gorgeous shot, but a bit sad to see the tower, once part of a town's history, submerged forever.

You fooled me. Thought it was a lake in Wales. Similar story: flooded town/village, etc. Also there is a similar tower in the lake, but I believe it has to do with operating the reservoir. Looks a lovely place! ;-)

This is amazing. We have such tales of a submerged church in Derbyshire. I see the clock has gone but the face remains. A beautiful shot Monika and a very nice dedication!!!
