Enjoy the work.BIOIn 1984 I graduated from Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) with a BA in Fine Art. From there went into the army as a chaplains assistant serving in Germany, and on to Dallas, Texas after my term of service ended. It took almost two decades before leaving Dallas to move to Cheney with my partner of 15yrs. I have had gallery shows in Cherokee, Iowa, donated paintings to several charity auctions, and a two story wall mural for the Deep Ellum Opera Theaters production of The Magi. I was also very active with my hometowns community theater.
This area and the people have truly inspired me to once again discover my passion of art and so I have taken every opportunity to take advantage of that. I do hope that you will enjoy my art as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
It is my belief that any expression of art, no matter what the media or vehicle (written, musical, visual, etc) is an expression of the Divine. The nature photographs are my tribute to an incredibly and wondrous creative God. To look beyond just seeing nature, and to look at this incredible creation from a new perspective. My other expressions of art are also a celebration of creation. But, these are an exploration of, well, the inner creation of ourselves. Our beliefs of what is real and what is imagination here that distinction is blurred, if it even exists. These expressions of the creative playground of imagination, myth and belief go beyond the not so simple question of What does it mean. To the much more interesting and accurate question of what does this mean, to me. No matter what you see in it, or what feelings the work brings up for you will be absolutely correct. You can take ownership of that and if youre really daring move on the next question of Why, does this make me feel this way.
Thank you for taking a moment to explore a small corner of this wondrous creation we call home.
