3ds max 7 , mental ray 3.3 a camera lens, it had textures ( the fstop , focus etc.) but i removed them because they looked crappy and to give it this clean look. but maybe later i'll refine the textures

If I were you I'd increase the number of steps in your lathe (if it is a lathe) because the straight lines around the circumference detract from a very promissing image. Looking forward to the textured version.

I agree -- the only thing stopping this from being realistic is the angular stepping sections of the lens outer body that should really be a smooth cylinder. I'd bet about 2x to 3x as many verticies in the geometry would fix it, and/or some additional smoothing tricks.
