omg only one comment? this isnt right. that is a superb modelling job,very detailed and the render is clean. is this a WIP for animation or illustration of some sort or are you just showing a model? the thumb didnt do it justice though.

It's pre-weathering. Essentially the model with a fresh coat of paint. The thumbnail is the original model from 1978 in the episode "Take the Celestra." The original model was built by Apogee, John Dykstra's company. At the time I built this model, all I had to work with were captured images from an extended play VHS tape that was about ten years old. The comparison is there to show how much detail I had to interpret from fuzzy images. The model I built got the final weathering pass from Lee Stringer at Zoic. I have a lot more images that will be going online, you'll be able to see the evolution of the model in an upcoming series of images.

Excellent modelling job. i quite enjoy the new series and you guys did a great job of mixing up the original ship designs with newer ship concepts.
