Thanks for viewing !! :o) -- We have a pair of Collared Doves (Streptopeleia decaocto) nesting about 12 inches from our garden door. Some time ago the eggs hatched and i thought i should get a pic of the chicks. So i waited for the mother to leave and quickly shot a few pics, heres the best of em. Im not really that satisfied with it but i think its best to leave em alone and not further disturb them. The scientific name, Streptopeleia decaocto, literally means a collar (streptos) dove (peleia). In Greek mythology, Decaocto was an overworked, underpaid servant girl. magnificent lighting! and what i love about this one the most i think is that green leaf on the left...almost reminds me of a silk curtain that's been put up!!!! beautiful nesting picture!! coo-coo!! :)
