Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

ebsmooth, I'm not sure what the exact speed of the lava but in my past post "Rapid Lava", it was moving about 3 to 5 mph as it came out. Then it slowed down as it got farther away from the opening. In the past, I've seen it move much much faster............................... Enmos, Yes, the Volcano fumes are hazardous to your health. They do contain hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and glass particles. People with heart or breathing problems are at high risk. Also young children and pregnant are at high risk. One should not breath these fumes as people have died............................... Akemi, you are right...I needed to take a break and get some fresh air as the fumes did affect me some. I did go up Mauna Kea again and visited Lake Waiau where the air is thin. Ahhh..sweet air, lol

Perhaps some extra oxygen might turn out to be more than just luxury.... Impressive to see the different stages of the lava skin!
