My name is Derrick Shawn Grant. After several years in medical science, I have finally found my true calling as an artist. My current medium of expression uses self-taught computer graphics to create images that are true to life or surrealistic using Bryce, Poser, and PhotoShop. I have studied drawing and art history in college as electives and have painted on large canvas using oil and acrylics.

BIO
My name is Derrick Shawn Grant. I am now a graphics artist and starting my business, DK Designs. My Background is in Medical science and I an a classically trained Human Anatomist. My education occured in Montreal Canada where I attended, Vanier College, and McGill University. There I completed my BSc., MSc and Ph.D in Cell Biology and Human Anatomy. During this time I took several minor courses in Art History, Painting and Drawing. This educational background was followed by postdoctoral work at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. I then moved on to Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia, as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Throughout these work experiences I taught myself to use Bryce, Poser, Painter, PhotoShop and other Graphic program. I encorporated both these fields of Science and Art to produce graphical designs for scientific presentation over the past 10 years. Finally I decided to leave Science to concentrate my efforts on graphic arts and design. I am committed to this form of contemporary art, and even though several pieces of my work illustrate classical themes and techniques, the final impression one gets, is completely different using this digital venue. Each image can take from one day to a week depending on if the feeling that I would like to convey. My motivation comes from things around me. I am sometimes inspired by dreams, books that I read, the movies, my family or my emotions at that moment. I hope that you will share my joy in my newly discovered art form.

I am surprised that this image has not yet received more comments. I did a search on 'faeries' and this image is the best one I have seen. Some technical aspects could be improved (e.g. the shadow on the girl's face) but this picture really captures and projects the concept of its title.
