Description

"She is not any common Earth, Water or wood or air, But Merlin's Isle of Gramarye, where you and I will fare." -Kipling Honesty compels me to note that most of the rainwater had been absorbed into the earth, but there was still some remaining in the heart of the maze, and I augmented it considerably to feed the illusion of walking into the sky itself. This image was made for the April Challenge: "Commencement" It could also be read from the inside out... the heartline of a life, full of turnings and different directions at the beginning, until, acknowledging one's origins, a person has the confidence to stride out toward the future. This labyrinth is one of at least four at Sibley Volcanic Park, and my favorite of them. I've placed the photograph on coffee cups and note cards (with the Native American sentiment "Walk in Beauty"). The mousepad is especially nice as a reminder to think calm thoughts while wandering through the twisted byways on the Internet (and to investigate all corners!). http://www.cafepress.com/hauksdottir/4185027

Thanks! I forgot to credit Kipling. :sigh: Another of his poems has: "Thorn of the Down saw New Troy Town" ...but how many people know that troy town is another name for labyrinth?
