Description

The 3 ships are expertly modeled by Jed Swindells, I just put them here. Thing is, I think the sea - although pretty mountainous - still looks rather too calm, and I'm not sure how to correct this. Any suggestions?

Hey this is outstanding work here... You may not have gotten exactly what you wanted as far as the water, but you have created is something truly abstract and surreal in nature to me. Your colors and the strange angles of the water make for a very interesting picture. I would make a copy of this file and just play with lighting on the ships and their sails. Try soft colorful lighting. Also when you add lighting to the sails put the shadow function on so that the rigging shows up. Wonderful work... Oh! and how did you make that sail look all torn up???? Beautiful effect.

Er... Full credit for the torn sails must go to Jed who very kindly sent me the ship plus ready torn sails. Just what I was looking for.

for bigger sub waves increase the scale of the bumpmap or draw them in the landscape editor

A good start. Try using just one terrain, instead of two. Make a big'un, with a hefty 1024 or 2048 resolution, and stratch it way out. Then, before you apply your water material, align the ships... Also, all ships have wakes! And where are all the would-be-diers?!? (grins)
