Your modeling is exceptional. Unfortunately it looks like a plastic model. My guess is the textures but also lighting.

Lovely modelling Steve. I know texturing is not your 'thing' but I so wish it was. If you applied the same attention to the textures that you do to the modelling..... Looks good though.
