Description

~*~ Voice of the Mother ~*~ Her voice calls out to the people. Rejoice in the blossoming of new life... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All cultures contain an earth mother, hence my selection of Mythology rather than 'spiritual' although it fits both. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a new book of Native Peoples. Truely a wonderful one given me by a lovely friend. It contains many old and fantastic photos (circa late 1800's) of Native Peoples in the US. As well as text, the story of the various tribes. It's an amazing book. It also contained a photo of this wonderfully handsome chief. Unfortunately I'm horrid at drawing men. They usually look rather effeminate. So what began as a painting of this glorious chief, turned into the Mother of the People. :) Of course it fit, my mood this week.... I do feel rather like an earth mother with spring springing up and all that is in blossom. Picture was sketched with graphite on 80lb. paper. Smudged and blended with the tortilion. Then scanned into PSP 9. Repainted background to rid it of the horrid smudges that never come out. Then did a bit of airbrushing on her eyes. Corrected the gamma curves, added the coloration via Hue map I believe. Finally finished with the pastel filter in Virtual Painter 4. Framed and here she is .... the Ultimate Earth Mother. I really like the continuity of your style, and the fact that you use multiple media in your art. Your color choice is ideal, and I love the graceful tilt of her head. Great job!
