Description

Just a test render using TrueSpace 5.1's default ibl setting. No image is being referenced for the lights. The image turned out very blown out. Its a low poly Camaro. No interior. Inside a hollowed out cube. The only textures used were tex and bumps for the brick wall, all the vehicle lights, innerwindshield, and the tires. The windshield is actually two windshields. One for the glass and one(the inner windshield) to texture the black plate that bollows the windshield edge. And yes I see the errors in the windshield. Too close I guess. Image is only 640x480. Rendered using Raytrace and 3x anti-aliasing. Yet this render took 3 hours of a PII 450 with more than 500 meg ram. This area will eventually become an imaginary small plane airport hanger. Pete

love it,youre being too critical of your work, the render time is a little long but this is a great render......

OH also... I forgot.. I have no experience with Truespace, but I have a hunch... do you know how to control max ray depth for raytracing? If you can, it affects how many times a ray will bounce before it is considered dead or lost... for this kind of image (i.e. you're not in a barbershop with mirrors on all sides), you'll only need a ray depth of 0 to 2... peace

Hey, good hunch. The Radepth was indeed set to 10 I changed it to 2. I haven't tried to rerender in using IBL but it should definatley render faster.

I used a grayscale image of a cloud-sky as an enviromental background with a darkgray color background for my Corvette ...worked out great.

Nice render very well done. I might suggest playing with the controls for the IBL to help lower render time. I recently did a render on a 500mghz PIII with 256 meg of ram, using a picture of a white brick building the model was rather complex with textures and bump maps and shadows turn on. . .render time was 1 hour 43 minutes. Should warn you IBL can become addictive! :-)
