Description

- Scotland, Isle of Skye - In the northern part of Skye you often will find such rock formations called "kilt rocks". Columnar jointing or structure result from the lava or magma cooling and shrinking in a smaller volume. If the magma cools slowly and regularly, the centers of shrinkage are equally spaced. Similarly, in a kilt, the pleats are folded nearly and set equally apart. Thanks for your interest and all welcome comments! Have a stressless day! ;o)))

Nope sinarokara I was the one to scroll eight hours to make a comment - lol, wonderful rock formations reminds me of the Giant's Causeway which is probably the most extreme for of this rock type, excellent image Rita, love the colours and textures !! ~V~

Gorgeous, i like these crumble rockformations !! They really look neat and in some places fossiles appear when chunks of rocks come loose :o) Superb work !!
