You are looking at a bolt in the side of a section of railway track. It probably has a technical name (they always seem to!). It is an older picture (one of my first with my digicamera.. there's no postwork but cropping . When I got the picture on screen I was amazed at the gold and silver hues and the textures.

I was a Fettler once...a Track Layer in Emerald Qld...and banged many of these in with the Sledge Hammer...I think the Bolt was referred to as a Stud....as was I :]
