Description

Canon EOS 10D, Canon 100-400L IS lens at 400mm ISO 400, 1/1250 sec at f5.6, handheld We were about to enter the Everglades National Park, but we didn't realize the gates do not open until 8:30am. So we got our gear ready and waited, and this woodpecker just stopped by to visit and help me pass the time. The soft early morning light works magic with birds when it hits them just right. Thank you for your comments on Sunset over Merritt Island. It is one of my best sunset efforts so far.

Visiting my neck of the woods, that explains it. This is what I get for commenting in reverse order! ;P How come I'm here year round and never can get shots like this. Well, rarely anyway. Lovely little pecker here!
