I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

a beautiful rendereing with an excellent calm mood. My only suggestion would be to extend a little the green surface towards a lower height... but other than that... It's perfect! ;)

I love the pov and the water, excellent atmo. I like the surfaces too, but maybe they look a bit "uniform". you could also try to improve the quality : maybe too jpeg-compressed? I'm not sure, i'm just trying to give some suggestions to improve as you asked it, but anyway excellent pic...

Not agree with you, Vanh. If you already went in the Lake Powell area, surfaces are really uniform, quite boring. Sometime, we must accept that the reality is more boring than imagination. Well done, Bob!

Agree with Christian, Excellent Surface and Color Reproduction Bob! I have been toying with the Sedona Terrain I aquired at MapMart. The surfaces and colors aren't to difficult to achieve but using a DEM Terrain really lacks in realism. :o( I'm a bit discouraged after seeing the real thing. Back to your render, Excellent Work Ole Buddy!
