Description
First time use of 3DS MAX, post work done in Photoshop to add trees, lawn, background etc. Would love to know how to make scene look more realistic (overall lighting, reflections in Windows) without the need to resort to Photoshop.

Your modelling looks pretty good, but I do have some comments; the wall materials could do with a bit more texture to them; try using a raytrace material (or map type) to get true reflections in the glass; it looks like you are only using one standard light to light the scene, try using an extra low powered omni without shadows further out to get some light into those black areas, or alternatively use Global Illumination to get the light bouncing into the dark areas. On the modelling side; it looks like there is agap between the walls and the ground around the garage, and there could do with a little more detail along the roof edges, guttering maybe? Keep it up!

As to tips on making it more realistic, I strongly recommend a book called "3dsMax for Windows" by Michelle Matossian. (costs around $22 - way less than the 3dsMax Bible) Arranged in reference book format it explains how to do everything from the basics to the most advanced stuff, including reflections, advanced texturing and materials, etc.
