Description

This is a photo of a Digital Art piece i did for the Florida Community College of Jacksonville's Student Annual. This juried show had 1000+ submitions and only accepted 400. This piece won 1st in DIGITAL IMAGING. woohoo! This is a 82w" by 20h" metal grid i spent about 10 hours burning and texturing. The image itself was done with Poser4 and rendered with Maya's MentalRay. I then took it into Photoshop for the touch ups and additional FX. I relized that since this was a POV piece i needed to incorp light coming in through the grid and shadows laying across the mans body and face. I took a Crayon and paper and rubbed the texture of the grid. I then scanned the paper and vectorized the grid pattern. i then took that patern and put a gaus. blur on it and then rapped it around the body and face. since the only thing touching the grid was the guys hands i left the shadows off the hands. only issue i have with the piece is the way the lighting turned out along with the lens angle. in full light rendered, the guys head is close to beign TOO big. but with the shadow hiding most of the guys head, it makes the hands look like HUGE meat hooks.

First let me say Congratulations on your first place entry! It is very deserving. I do not see what you are seeing as being a problem. I find this to be a wonderful and haunting image to those still missing! Well done!

Fantastic image and very haunting. May we never, ever forget them. BTW, my husband (now deceased) retired from the downtown campus of FCCJ some year back. He would have said the same thing I did. Keep up the good work.

Just recieved a PM telling me this image was photoshop'd and the metal isnt real, and that poser doesnt render that big.(82x20) :Game Show Buzzer: I DIDNT RENDER IT IN POSER.. as stated above, I rendered it using Mental Ray in Maya. This person also stated that I probably couldnt afford to get an image this size printed. um... do you know me? o ok thats what i thought! Goto kyncos. $215.00 out the door, and they foamcore dry mounted it as well. If yoru gonna talk trash, please know WTF your talking about before you make a fool out of yoruself.
