Description

This Still Life is for my Granny. As long as I can remember, Granny had presented this treasures in a special glass cabinet. She had taken these things in a suitcase, muffled in her and my Moms clothes, in the air-raid shelter, when her house was destroyed by a bomb. Within one second her property had been reduced to the contents of this small brown suitcase. I do not know it, but, so, maybe these glasses, Silk flowers, her clock and the Porcelain figures have become so valuable for her. At this time my mother was just 16 years old. Modelled everything exept the Flowers and the Figure. Thanks for the view !

It has always been a wonder to me that such fragile things can survive troubled epochs... They keep memories sometimes better than photographs. Excellent image!

Yes, kitch! Reminds me at a discussion here about that issue a while ago. Shows perfectly that even in the biggest kitch there could be a big meaning for others. So be careful with categories, it can be totally different for others. A brilliant image Helmut, thanks again for the thought-provoking impulse!

Love the story, the modelling and set up of your scene. Now if your grandma is still with you, I suggest you go to Spain and get her a beautiful spanish dancer doll!

I confess, I love kitschy things! Love the painters of the romantic era - what else than kitsch their sujets are? Love the furniture and last but not least those glasses and porcelaine objects. It's for me the same as for you - they bring back memories of my grandparents who died a long time ago. But looking at these things I feel like a little girl watching referent the golden and shiny treasures of a fairytale princess... V

excellent craftmanhip. the models and render are superb. What software do you use for modeling? Did you render this HDRI? i am always impressed by those who do their own modeling, especially with this kind of detail. it is a notch above most. It is my aspiration. your granny's spirit is alive and well in you. V
