The big guy is a fire bug(Pyrrhocoris apterus) It has been known to attack other insects (see : http://www.geocities.com/pelionature/Pyrrhocoris.htm) sorry to destroy the kiss story... French names are : Gendarme, Suisse ! :~) German name : Die Feuerwanze . I was trying to capture these bugs some weeks ago (when in the Cevennes) but my macro technique was not yet "at R'osity level"... ;-) Very nice photography, Monika! :~)

Thank you Michel for telling so exactly... indeed I had forgotten to mention the name of that bug... you're right we Germans call it "Feuerwanze". I know about those bugs... but hey, I liked that romantic idea more... hehe

Delicious. When I was a child, in spanish, we called 'zapatero' to the one in the top and 'coquita' to the other. They were everywhere; now, there are years I don't see anyone of them!

Dear Monika, I hope it's just a "kiss!" Bugs have some rather strange ways about them - hope one isn't about to be lunch!
