Description

Unbearable Lightness of Being is Milan Kundera's splendid novel. This isn't an illustration for it but somehow when trying desperately to find a title Kundera's words hit me. Painted with pastels on coloured paper (dark brown), size about 30 x 40 cm (about. 12 by 14 inches) I've been working on this a bit by bit for weeks, mostly when watching TV! :-) - ice hockey, Emmerdale, silly movies... maybe they all can be seen here? I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the comments you've left to my previous works! They mean a lot to me! THANK YOU! *hugs* Thank you for taking your time and viewing this one too! Your comments are always soooo appreciated! :-)

This has such a wonderful feeling to it Titta, I love the gently glowing luminosity, the soft far away look on the girls face & that wonderful sweeping spiral in your composition, this is one I just want to sit & gaze at soaking it all up! Beautiful work hugs ; )

Jeff, I think there has to be always something to do with your hands (and mind) when 'watching' Emmerdale or something like that... lol

I love working in pastels, they catch the light so beautifully. Too bad that really can't be captured here like in real life. I really like this. Your style is wonderful.

The contrasting colors really make this pastel glow, wonderful vibrant colors. Love the composition of pearls and shells, that is what the spiral forms remind me of. And he girl is a pearl too, she looks so gentle and inviting in her red silk dress. Beautiful work!!!

Wonderfull luminesant colors that have an abundance of movement in all your strokes , some times it is the movement of the brush strokes that define a painting. also the expression on her face is very captivating, she almost reminds me of some one from the roaring twenties with her hair style ?

As Cass said, SO vibrant, and with her smile such a feel-good vibe! Those ethereal blues are so beautiful and work well with the red - you manage to make the combinations of primary colours work for me! Never knew you guys got Emmerdale, now I'm sniggering in amazement at how far some of our TV seems to spread... how do you guys get on with the Yorkshire accent though?? It's fine for most English people (although sometimes it's so broad that even we can struggle to understand) but I do wonder sometimes how our foreign friends get on with our dialects ;-)

Wonderful image! I especially like the neat sort of fractal vibe to the background.
