Description
hello again "kansas" :)
sorry after all that, there isnt that much to see!
In this picture i have steam-bent the lengths of "Oak" over a metal curve, there are just a few lengths here, out of around 40 for the whole roof(as you can see in the small picture!) It takes about 60 minutes in the steamer,(which is just a box sealed off with a pipe going into it from a tin drum of boiling water(out of picture!)
As i havent quite finnished my "Yurt" yet, i have placed the attached picture of one that mine will look like when it is finnished...
i only have 20 more poles to go! I have already made my roof ring and trelis sides "as you can see in the small picture! I personaly have stayed in a "yurt" many times, and they are by far the best nomadic weather-proof dwellings around!! :)

Thank you for sharing this great project and this skill of steambending. It sounds like a labor intensive project. Hope you will share photos of your ongoing work and then the finished yurt. The small photo--looks like a wonderful warm place. I like the lines leading up to the opening on top. Thank you. I admire and applaud your work and skill.

I am a carpenter sometimes as well as painter and I really appreciate the process you are doing- excellent work and the finished "Yurt" should be interesting to say the least!!!
