Description
Far from Home, but enough minerals to be worth the distance.
My 1st sci-fi space scene. The 1st work in progress version of hopefully a June 2005 IRTC entry. Created and rendered in pure PovRay 3.6.
Galaxy background via Chris Colefax's great and flexible ".inc" file.
Planet is a sphere with multiple complex layered textures. Plenets surface is meant to look blasted by a sun's nova event with no oceans left but plenty of exposed minerals. Seems close to final to me.
Space station simple CSG torus and cylinders with a brick texture, yes, a brick texture, set to very high ambience to create the lights. Needs detail, size, location, and angle tweaks to improve.
Spaceship is a union of prism cubic spline sweeps and a deformed sphere, goal to look futuristic yet not like any others. Seems good to go to me.
Plan to next add solar flare from unseen sun at left of image. Must read Povray help and get started!

this is great. if you can combine ion drive with this image, it would look fantastiq. The space station looks fantastic. Add a few small ships and U are set my friend. Very well done.

would love to see 'closeup' of your ship! I 'scratchbuild' minis for my own personal use in rpgs and display and would love to try making one of this ship??? IF you don't mind? Carpe' Diem!
