Description

Sorry don't have any idea for the title :O as you see James try to help me today with my another light test using new techniques I try out. I used as base here first the StudioLight and plug in new Angular maps for the actual background scene, next I created the total scene in form of shadows catchers only, so only James and the balls was rendered and the rest used only as a shadow catcher, very primitive idea but the effect I think is cool, I used also one point light to get the reflection on the balls and to simulate the bigger shadows and sun light color. The point light helped me also to get the right distance and the position as in the real image. James is much to big to the actual Sphinx figure but ok how care about right now:) I hope you like the final effect of this ball's mission to Egypt. Hugs! Cath

Yikes, he had to climb up all the way to the top of the pyramid to put the ball up there? ;-) Looks really good. I enjoy seeing what you do with P6 and the lights :-)

The pointlight makes nice reflections, but for scenes like this there is one drawback: The highlight on the ball in the back right is not from the same direction, because the real sun has an greater distance... but the first impression is ecxellent!! Much better than my stuff.. ~Uwe

What an amazing sense of depth. The balls definitely look like they're resting on the cliffs. You've managed to get a great effect without all that black dirt that I see on my renders.

AWESOME, Cath! Really interesting composite. Your techniques and experiments are always inspiring! I wish there were a way to tint the color of the AO; it would help simulate more radiosity-like effect, but the shadows look great here.

As always, I have no idea how you achieved this, but more importantly is that they're surely a joy to view. Two thumbs up!

lol...they look to have a delicate intelligence, with their balance, position and smooth porcelain finish... Can't tell if they are light or heavy. Yes, they must be on a mission... I wonder what it is. :) This is COOL!

The more I look at it, the more I'm reminded of the tv series "The Prisoner", remember the balls? ...anyone? I know I'm not the only one old enough to remember hehe. I would love to see the angular map used for this. Cath, are you shaping them in Photoshop from the image itself? Learning more each day as I apply my own understanding of light & re-channel it thru your experience & gifts
