Description

I won't go into details, but this dried rose (1 of 3) is very special to my wife. I've actually read a photography book. (Or a book come to that). It was giving tips on still life photography. One was instead of using DOF to blur the background, use tracing paper. I didn't have any, so this is a normal piece of paper, but I kinda like the effect. I did use DOF as well to blur the stems. f/3.2, 1/13 sec at ISO 200. Probably should have gone higher, but didn't think about it at the time. Thanks for looking

The lighting and details are really good! That diagonal line on the bottom right(I assume its the "roses" shadow) kind of distracts me and takes the focus away from this main subject. My eye travels off the frame because of it.

At first I thought it was an ice cream cone...That was a good tip I have never heard of with the trace paper. Anyway your compo here is effective.I do like how the texture of petals stayed with your shot.

I thought hard about the line, which is actually another stem. There were three roses in the vase. I considered postworking it out, but in the end, left it. But since you mentioned it, I will remove it.

like the lighting and compo and the muted colours give it a toned look.
