Description
I'm not sure if this little imposter is actually waiting to be discovered amid the spirals ... or if he's sporting the coy look of one who has effectively beaten the system. This reminded me of the first joke I ever told my parents... I was about 8 years old... and it went like this: "Why did the elephant paint his toenails red?" A bit of humming and hawing ensued on the part of my mom and dad... along with the requisite amount of ceiling searching and chin rubbing before they said, "We don't know... why did the elephant paint his toenails red?" And then I got to deliver the goods by saying, "So he could hide in the cherry tree!" They were always awesome... always laughed and tousled my hair... made me believe it was the best joke they'd ever heard... ;)
They are still awesome... and when they come over for supper and a visit... they sit side by side on my bed so that I can show them my latest fractals on the monitor. They nod at all the right times and offer all kinds of encouraging sounds... and they make me believe they've never seen anything so beautiful. The bewildered looks they give one another between images is not lost on me, however... but it just makes me love them all the more... ;)

Spectactular work! Brilliantly composed and so highly detailed it is impossible to follow all of the spirals to their ending points. Lovely colors, the subtleness of the background really makes the spheres stand out. That thing that's raising it's head looks kind of like a swan, maybe it will grow up to be Big Bird, if he doesn't eat all of the jewelry and get sick. It's great that your parents can see your work and try to appreciate it, it's funny how our relationships don't change all that much over the years. Sounds like your bed might get to be a crowded place with all of the admirers you have around here! I hope to have a front row seat.

You are one of the few artists that can make a julia sing like this! Since Redbeard said everything else, I'll simply add...BEAUTIFUL!

The tiny eye on the swan is an ingenious touch, Helen. Simply exquisite design, superb lighting and a such a beautiful palette! When I read your delightful commentary, I thought of my own supportive parents who oooh and ahhhh and ask for prints..and a dear brother who can't begin to understand my attachment/attraction to fractal art. :~)

I really love the swan sitting on top of a beautiful fractal. And I read your words and found something I did not understand quite clearly, something that seems to make me a little bit sad...

Your commentary did make me smile. My mum is doing similar nods and oohs since I introduced her to my latest work! This is absolutely stunning, and the wee coy bird is a great touch!

I don't know what to like best: your image or your lovely story about your parents. Isn't that what parents suppose to do? Encourage their young even when they're grown? Cherish them.
