Description

Not all nature is intact here, there are some tracks of human activities as well.... This deep quarry made me wonder how deep it is. Well, a closer look on the map reveals to me that the bottom lies some 120 meters lower (400 ft),... exactly on the elevation of the lake! Ah, that's where the little hole down there allows trucks to carry the rocks out of this quarry! It's as logic as the pointed eared Spock would point out to me with some hidden smile! :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 70 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

The enormity of the scene and the "hole" (lol!) make the JCB and other machines look like matchbox toys! This is a very dramatic image! Thanks for sharing it!

Don't fall down...! Yeah these places are everywhere and I can tell you, when you're in the air, you see them immediately... (like electric lines, actually)

Quarries are a family business. I have only been to the bottom of the Huron Portland one once. It was dangerous with blasting and huge trucks rolling without known paths. Looking in from the top is a good place to be unless there is a drill up there or below making holes for charges. Good peek in.
