Description

.... send 'em a Trifid! This is what happens when you spend too much time with trueSpace and not enough time in the garden: The place gets over run with weeds! Background image comes with tS 5.1 as part of a lighting tutorial. My first experiment at marrying a model with an actual picture and also with using the shadowcatcher shader. I used an IBL plus a bit of groundfog to blend my Trifids with the background plus I painted some very simple cylinders with the shadowcatcher shader to make shadows for the trees. There is also a single Infinite light for the more solid shadows. Plants made by me with Twig by Grass 3d or from R'osity freestuff. Trifids made with SDS modelling. I've been wanting to model a trifid for a long time - "The Day of the Trifids" was one of the first Sci-fi books I ever read (we studied it in English at school). Comments suggestions and critiques all welcome as always

OH YES I LOVE IT. Nice one Stephen always been a fan of the trifids to. You've done a good job of matting the plants into the photo to. The only thing I would say is maybe the 2 trifi (if thats the plural) at the back could of done with being a bit out of focus, but i'm just being piccy. Great job mate :o) Steve

Nice work. Certainly a unique subjct. Wonder if anyone will do a re-make of Day of the Triffids like they have for Hitch Hiker's Guide... Could be interesting.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Steve I did struggle more to match those back Trifi (if thats not the right word it should be!) than the nearer ones - thanks for the suggestion - I should look into the Depth of Field setting. John, I recently read a most enjoyable book by British horror writer Simon Clark called 'Night of the Triffids' which is a sequel to John Wyndhams original - I recommend it for a good thrilling read.
