I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

(Splendid) ... I like the foreground very much.
Buzzzzz
My Favorite part is the Mountain Forest Cover and Rocky Peaks. Atmo is very different for you Bob, it's a nice change. Color Pallet is Beautiful also. Now for the suggestions: I think the overlay is a little to blurred for a good effect on the above water portion however the underwater section works ok. Perhaps more tiles will get the rock to proper scale, they seem a little to large to me. Some shoreline dirt and vegetation may clarify the water land transition also. Just suggestions because it's still a beautiful Creation. :o)

Beautiful atmo and grass. The water and underwater is fantastic
Darthmagus
Quiet and beautiful place! Superb colors!
Markal
Agree with Buzzzzz...getting the size of the tiles or stones in proportion with the rest of the image is difficult. I also feel the reflection is a bit too strong but, that is a matter of personal taste. Colors and surfaces are super excellent!!

I agree with Markal and Buzz as well. It does work under the water, but maybe a bit scaled down above would work well. A very nice render!

Me? I'll use this handy jet ski I happen to have and you can swim.... Love the "texture" of your greenery - this is particularly hard to achieve!! I love the colours and stillness here - such a serene piccy. Love the clarity of the atmo too. sigh*

Nothing to add to Buzzzzz's comments except, I really love this style and the sky is indeed a wonder. I like the underwater surface work and transparency. Reflection amount is fine with me. I love this and want more!!!

Marvelous work Bob! My favourite elements here are lighting, mirroring ,color & depth of the water! The scene is also very sharp & crisp! Bravo!

Well, at least this time I'm not the 39th + commentor... Bob, I look past the overlays because I wouldn't know one if it bit me while I was swimming to that shore. What I AM looking at is textures. These are expertly laid out. There is something you did with the foam effect that is intriguing! All in all a great effort in achieving your goal!

What i love about this image are the surfaces and atmo. the detail on the grass surfaces and overlays are excellent. Awesome shoreline effect too!

The surfaces and quiet sky take it for me. Perhaps those piranha are hiding under the rocks?

Nice work Bobby ;D

This one is great work. In some aspects i agree with Buzzzzz, it's overlay is little blurred on land, underwater is ok.
inkydigit

fantastic atmosphere and great overlay! ;)

Love the grass/scrub effect. The rocks under the water remind me of a lake in Wi left over from the glacier period.

if this is in california, it looks like it might be lake havasu, or or jackson lake, or lake silverwood. whatever. its a nice render. need just a bit more dilineation between the water line and the landscape. still i dig it.
Lledeline
Great water.
Vanh
excellent terrain and atmo, beautiful surfaces and water.
Orca
Great texturing, nice calm and soft atmosphere.

I do not agree about the tiles. I saw in Ireland rocks with these kind of texture. It is a matter of tast I think. A wonderful work Bob, all around is excellent, perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!! v
WeeLaddie
Excellent surfacing and lighting; I won't/can't comment on overlays 'cos I'm not competent enough with them.

I don't know squat about overlays either but this looks pretty sweet to me! esp like the foreground, colors and crispness.
