Description

This Mockingbird was waiting to feed the chicks in a nest in a small bush in the city. There is a small "eco-center" of birds, bunnies and critters outside the backdoor of where I work. This small area of a few trees, junipers and bushes is the home to several animals. The mockingbirds are trying to get the chicks fed and fledged. I backed off when this one gave me "the look" and was frustrated when a camera was in view. Without the camera, I get closer. The image is only 675x518 pixels of the original 3036x2010 image. That is as close as I could get with my lens. I did back off, seeing the frustration in the mockingbirds. The camera was put down and the birds went back to feeding the chicks. Nikon D70, 1/1000sec(thought she might fly!), f/5.6, ISO 200, Sigma zoom lens at 187mm (35mm equivalent for 125mm digital). Enjoy...if I am fortunate to get the fledged baby birds I will post that. (note on image: the sharp edges of the bird's head are not digital events. This is exactly the form in the original image due to feather position.) Wow, nature is wonerful on the up side!
