Michael strode along briskly through the woods. Here and there trees had been cut down for hauling away. His attention elsewhere, he was soon lost. Sweat beaded across his brow and streamed into his eyes, momentarily blinding him. With a sudden hard "whump" he hit what he took to be a tree stump. Shock coursed through him as realization seeped into his overheated brain. He had run smack into a huge bear! The bear stood frozen by shock as well. Michael took advantage of this and turned swiftly to run in the opposite direction. Running hard and fast, stumbling into brier patches and ripping his clothing, he sped through the dense growth. But the bear dropped to all fours and snorting with rage, humped along after him. Michael ducked behind a large fallen tree trunk but knew it was too late. He fell to his knees and raised his head toward the heavens. "Oh Lord, please let it be a christian bear. Then maybe it won't kil me" he prayed fervently. The bear halted and eyed him a moment, then it too, slipped behind the log. Kneeling on it's hind legs it put it's forepaws together in a prayful attitude and raised it's muzzle upward. And then it said a prayer as well, "Oh Lord, I give thanks for this meal you have put before me". I couldn't resist the urge to do a picture after my brother called this weekend and told Mom a similar joke. It was just too good to miss. Lol. Hope you all enjoy.
