Description

One of my favorite album covers, as well and my favorite Grateful Dead album, is "Blues For Allah". This is a tribute to Phillip Garris's artwork and the band's music. (I took artistic liberties in that the album cover has the skeleton sitting and playing left-handed. The robe doesn't sit and flipping the image just looked weird.) Painted the hair and robe trim. Made the wall in Bryce. *** I got the album out for the first time in about ten years and the lyrics to the title song are fascinating to hear, considering the album was released in 1975. What a long strange trip it's been.

Love the Dead. Saw them in concert a few times. This is an excellent tribute to them, and the music. You are a true artist.

Righteous artwork brother! One of my favorite albums as well. It's like he just got up and moved! Inspiring!

"...Other times I can barely see..lately it occures to me.." You bet Dave, great lyrics, and a fun strange trip the Dead took us all on. I was not a dead head, but I enjoyed the light fun bouncy sounds when they played, and enjoy this particular album on my mp3 player...makes for good road travel toons, I travel a great deal. Your tribute is wonderful, and the look on this guys face about matches my faded tee. The wall is fantastic Dave, your very creative and I truly enjoy finding your imagination in my inbox at the end of a long day. Peace...(=

Good take on a classic dead album. I think I will have to get my Yes albums out and start making some cover tribute art too.

A very well done tribute. I agree that the robe looks fat, but that's a minor point - you've done a great job capturing the spirit of the original, which is also one of my favorite Dead graphics. I was lucky enough to have been to many Dead shows, the first being in '68 & including one my wife & I went to the night we were married 33 years ago...
