Description

2km-high skyscrapers, Camp Ellenia, N'heimo, The Espero System. The colony of Camp Ellenia was founded by refugees some five centuries ago, in the dark age after the 9th Inquisition seized power on the Earth by force. A group of refugees, mainly scientists and artists, fleeing from the murderous religious fanatics on the legendary ship Ellenia, had entered the Old Gate only a couple of seconds before it was destroyed by the annihilation torpedos of an Inquisition cruiser ship. As the Gate was destroyed, the point of exit became random and it was only the sheer luck that helped the runaways to exit the wormhole in the normal space and time. They found themselves at the other end of the galaxy, some 120,000 light years from Earth, in vicinity of an until then completely unknown star, 12 times larger than the Sun. They named the star Espero ("Hope") and settled on its fifth planet, about the size of Mars, They named the planet Novhejmo (New Home). That's where the present name comes from. After the fall of the 9th Inquisition regime and the reconstruction of the Old Gate, the Earth estabilished contact with the Espero system colony. Old data banks from the Ellenia helped immensely to reconstruct the history, science and culture of the Earth, that were badly damaged during the 60 years of dark reign of retrogression. Today is Camp Ellenia important mainly because of its industry and export of hypotexin. The product is a basic raw material in the production of syntethic viruses, used for curing cancer and for stopping/reversing the aging process and also in the android industry. It is extracted from gigantic, three-meter-long blades of a red grass, the most dominant autochthon form of life on the N'heim. The weaker gravity of the planet rendered possible such architectural achievements as the famous 2km-high skyscrapers, that can be seen on this postcard. ******** The second illustration from my "Postcards From beyond" serial. Made entirely in Cinema 4D (no terrain and atmo generators etc.) The idea behind the illustration is based on my other illustration, made for the cover of a local CG magazine.

Just as a side note, I know this is scifi, but as a pilot myself - those nav lights- red should be on the left and green on the right, that's standard. But who knows in this world it's the other way around, :) Excellent work man!

Very cool compo and pov, great concept. Not completely loving the plant choice but I really dig the idea and where you were going with it. . Good to have something in the foreground to further convey sense of scale and depth. Nicely done
