INSIGHT OUT
Shallow is the night we find
So long upon the lake,
Inky light pervading all
Dreaming when we wake.

Ah, Philip, there are images here, but I can't put them together. Seems many of them don't relate to any central theme, even as a fallen leaf relates to a tree. But you ask a question: To know death, first one should know life. To know life, one should know the universe. To know the universe, one must know ones self. The value of what we commonly refer to as life, is scarcely significant in the current earthly context, although I suspect that's reaching a point where it may begin to change. If humans can grow up, we might become useful to the universe as something other than breeding stock, a mire from which intelligence may one day issue forth. Till that day, life is almost nothing: But don't let that depress you! Grow, learn, become something: FLY!

Hi micsteel! Thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate it. I wrote this piece as a sort of 'flight of fantasy'. I have no idea what it actually means. I think it says different things to different people. Sometimes I enjoy writing abstract, seemingly unconnected work such as this piece. I wrote it years ago and despite it's jumble of mismatched concepts, it is still one of my favourites. Cheers; Philip.
