This photo is from our 20th anniversary trip to Hawaii (Kauai) in January. I live in Colorado, so this was a nice place to visit in winter!
I enjoy sharing my photos with the Renderosity community and I'm thankful for the comments from such talented artists! BTW - I also understand some French and Spanish, and welcome comments in those languages as well as English.
BIOI've been interested in photography since taking a class in the 4th grade. My camera broke a few years ago, so I hadn't done much since then. My husband got a new compact digital camera in December, so I've begun taking photos again. My daughter, chicajm, introduced me to this site.
I started my own company in May 2005 - No Small Dreams Productions. We make family-friendly student films. My daughter produces the films and I manage the business, do the catering and make the costumes. We just produced our first film together called "What Are The Odds?", a comedy about high school life and homecoming. You can see the trailer on our website at www.nosmalldreamsproductions.com.

Great composition and vibrant colors! Thanks for the info as well...these grow wild all along the highways here, and we were just wondering a few days ago what they were...now we know!

These are California Poppies.....one of my favorites, a little difficult to grow here in the South. Great capture.

I see someone beat me to it. Yes these are California Poppies and cannot be transplanted as they will die. When the spanish arrived in California and saw the flowers cover the many hills, they nicked named California, h 'hills of fire'. In Spanish it sounds better. If you are going to remove them and you happen to have a compost pile, placce them there as they provide nutrients for the earth. Have a great weekend in the garden.

Nice Photo. California's State Flower is a protected plant. It is illegal to pick, destroy or dig up a California Poppy and can have some serious fines. Poppies are hypnotic. Since there has been much rainfall in California this year, the hills of fire can be seen almost everywhere. Thanks for bringing attention to such a great flower.

Thanks for all the info about poppies, everyone! Since we live in Colorado, not California, I think it's okay for us to dig these up. I'm going to attempt to transplant them and see what happens :)

Excellent capture. I never saw this flowers. Beautiful colors and love the POV.

I seem to recall they have a rather long tap root and are hard to transplant sucessfully - good luck. I think you'll find they grow well from seed though. Beautiful capture of these wonderful cheery poppies.

Pity we have to miss these beauties here in the Netherlands although poisonous flowers have to be handled with care! Very beautiful shot!
