The dividing line between sharpness and softness is a most difficult point in macro photography, especially with flowers when one is focusing their attention to the inside of the flower. The natural and ambient lighting is perfect, especially who it graces the background. The very soft shapes of the background are perfect as we draw our attention ot to the flower itself. As mentioned where do we draw the line between crisp and sharp and softness? For my tastes and it is an artistic difference, I would have wanted the pollen stems be tack sharp since this is where my attention is driven to first. The remaninder of the flower is fine in its focus. But having the pollen stems and a portion of the inside sharp and crisp we would also be able to see a little more detail and even some texture of the inside petals. Again, it is a artistic difference in the way I would have sought to interpret the flower as your way is certainly not wrong.

Very nice shot!! I like the softness to this image. I also could see CameraObscura's approach to taking this shot would work as well!! It is wonderful that we are not all the same in how we do and/or approach things!!

I like the compo here and that frame is fantastic! Now, the shot is a 'lil too grainy for my taste and The flower looks a tad out of focus which could be rectified with a slight selective sharpening! Just my 2 cents! ;)
