Description


The whale jaws, up to 6 meter long (>18 feet) , contain a very fine oil which has been used as a special high grade oil for lamps, as lubricant and as anti-rust penetrating-oil. The whalers collected the oil, sailing back home. The jaws were hanging in the masts sailing back-home and gradually the oil dripped into a collecting vessel. On Ameland there wasn
