Description

Thanks for viewing !! :o) -- Happy birthday Danny !!! Hope you have a super day mate !! Thought it would be appropriate to give you a buttie :o) I have a 'macro alien'-type shot as well but i wasnt really satisfied with that one. - Brimstone Butterfly, Gonepteryx rhamni Wingspan: 60 - 74 mm The Brimstone butterfly is apparently the one that gave us the name 'Butterfly'. It was known to early scientists as the 'butter-coloured fly', which became 'Butterfly'. It is a fairly large butterfly, yellow all over, with a single darker yellow spot in the centre of each wing. The males are brighter yellow than the females. The underside is paler, yellow to pale green, with veining and a single brown spot on each wing. It is found in open or rough ground, and visits gardens. It settles with its wings closed, and seems fond of Thistles. The caterpillar is green, and larval foodplants are Buckthorn and Alder Buckthorn. Hope you like :o) - Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my last upload, "Little Baby Swans" !! -- Many thanks, Jeroen

Fantastic birthday dedi, very thoughtful of you, Jeroen! What a way of camouflage, but the DOF makes the butty stand out perfectly!
