Description

'Blistering Steal' Colour ~ April 1, 2005 Comments Many of us, including myself have said that there is nothing of any interest to photograph. It is like not being able to see the forest because of all the trees before us. So how about photographing an everyday item many of us see and pass from time to time. How about finding an object filled with a variety of weathered textures, scratched and dented, something covered with a few labels, and maybe even some graffiti. How about a garbage dunpster? Yes a garbage dumpster! In the back of a Barnes & Nobel book store in San Rafael, California there is a garbage dumpster that at some point had an internal fire. Parts of the metal that has become exposed to the elements has rusted, there are a few labels and the paint has pealed and blistered. It is a creative treasure throve. Technical Information: CAMERA: Sony DSC-V1, Aperature priority setting to f-8, ISO100, EV -.07, Tripod LIGHT: Available light PHOTOSHOP NOTES: Adjustment in Auto Contrast, Auto Levels, final adjustments in levels, curves and desaturation in Hue/Saturation. Final adjustment in brightness/contrast. Thank you for your visit Vielen dank f

Even in a ball of paper we can discover beauty. Great find and shot.

For an anti-corrosion coating specialist this is either a paradize how challenging it is to protect steel from corrosion or a nightmare if you believed that you coating could resist the years (in an agresive) environment. Corrosion never stops and is a colourfull auto-catalitic proces, this turned into almost an abstract "painting" or image at least the men behind the camera (two) did. Excelent work Egmont, Henk

I absolutely agree with what you have said, Egmont! Your image is rich with color and texture, and i love to look inside to see what adventures await me. this one...i see two faces, and i see an axe to their left. sorry i see such morbidity here but it is what i see. fabulous photography and find!!!!!!!!!! can't wait to see more!

Well done Egmont. Capital speech and image. Food for thought....??? Reminds me of the first time I got hooked on macros... when I saw a close up of a tropical fish's beautifully colored body... Go the dumpsters... I've got a folder of them that I may trot out soon!

I couldn't agree with you more and you wonderfully illustrate the point with this colorful find. The myriad hues are reminicent of a peir stantion encrusted with all sorts of sea life. I actually see a landscape here, but it would be too difficult to explain it. Bravo Egmont for challenging us to look for the special within the ordinary.

I'll admit, I am a texture junkie..... whether it be BW or color I am drawn to images that show texture.... this is sure to be a glorious series Egmont. The rich saturated colors here are to die for as well... Bravo! Now I'll sit back and enjoy these.

Egmont, this image has the most preserved original textures and colors and due to this is probably one of your best in color at RR, thus making the structure a real industrial landmark
