Hi, I'm Jackie and I live in NE Nevada.
I'm married to the CyberGooch www.cybergooch.com/ and aside from the fact he is my partner, lover and friend, he is also my favorite artist. I (not so recently) inherited his old Sony DSC-F717. I shoot whenever I can. Our son has also picked up on the family tradition and won "best of show" in the youth category at the fair. My Brother in law, Brent Alexander (a fantastic photographer http://brentalexander.com/ ) recently told me I was using a camera from the dark ages. While this may be true, I find it works for me while I'm still learning the art. I wish I had more time to spend viewing the photos of others as so many are inspiring and challenge me to try harder.
Thank you for offering critique and advice. That's why I'm here!
Jackie

What a SHOT! Yeah definitely do NOT want to get CLOSE to one of THESE! Really impressive! Snagged the tell-tall RED HOURGLASS mark too! SCREAMS....Stay AWAY or you'll regret it! AHHHHH

Brilliant picture - great detail !! Love the way you've captured the fineness of the web and the motion of the leg. What sort of spider is it? Is it one you shouldn't get near?

Fantastic Shot!!! MossSphere - yeah, this is a black widow and you don't want to get near it at all. According to Jankowski's "Guide to Venemous Spiders of the World" (p.24) this spider is extremely dangerous - it's poison can be fatal to humans and the is no antivenin available to treat it's bite. The guide goes on to say "If you should happen to find one of these nasty creatures in your planter while gardening, you should sell your home and move to another part of the country." Again, a great shot. Good luck finding a realtor!

You sure put this in the right gallery. I'm glad we don't have those things where I live. At least from what I understand they prefer to live out doors, and won't invade living areas of houses.
