Description

~Crummock Water & Grassmoor~ The composition here isn't great, but I like this picture as it's so 'cheerful'. The hill on the left (Grassmoor) is a bit of an awkward climb, but the view from the top is simply awesome on a clear day - you can see most of the big peaks to the east, the Solway Firth & Scotland to the north, and The Isle of Man to the southwest - some 50 or so miles away. Sadly I didn't have time to get a shot from up there this time, but I'm going back in July, so let's hope for a clear day! EOS 20D, 17-40L @ 17mm F9, 1/100s, ISO 100 Many thanks for views & comments, and have a great weekend! ..Steve..

I think the compostion is really good actually. That bare tree makes it perfect almost, might have looked even better if you cropped it at the bottom making it appear more in the scene. Gorgeous scenery by the way, lovely reflections...and ooooh soooo crisp and clear. Such a high quality shot!!! Great job!!! Enjoy your weekend #:O)

I see what you mean, Steve! a landscape with a soul! and the composition is brilliant! the lake looks beautiful and the mountain on the right in breathtaking color tones! the clouds in the sky are playful and I love their reflection on the lake and their shades on the mountain! on its dark part I see a tree like the enchanting one in the right corner! how I would like to be there, get up onto the top to admire nature and view! a photo like a swinging melody! ;o)))))))))))

The wedge of land separates two similarily formed masses of sky and water - the land is further broken into three separate wedges of different color (green, light brown, brown) - and you've got the trees and clouds to break things up. As you might have guessed - I quite like your composition :) Excellent work!!

yes... agree with you on the compo... my eye goes to the mountain & tree... turning this into a vertical would be good by cropping off the lefthand side because i see it as 2 pictures here... my eye bounces back & forth from left to right but more to the righthand side :] hope that makes sense...

The sweep and scale are magnificent. The huge DOF accentuates the vastness.
