Description

VUE 5I and PSP - To replentish my sorely depleted wine cellar, Victoria and I took a drive over to wine country last week.  If you ever get to California wine country, don't go to Napa.  Instead, drive north about 20 miles and visit Dry Creek Valley (stay in Healdsburg) -- much better price/performance for wine and it's not crawling with tourists.  The winemakers are much more friendly and accomodating as well.  I've been going to Dry Creek for about 20 years now and here are my five favorite wineries:

Rafanelli - Makes of the best Zinfandel in the world.  Highly acclaimed but still a very small family-run winery (about 7,000 cases per year).  Their Zin and Cab always make the top 100 in Wine Spectator and you can buy it only at the winery.

Rabbit Ridge - Incredible Super Tuscan blend called Aventura, one of my very favorites - you can only get this one at the winery.

F. Teldeschi Winery - Makers of one of the best  Petite Syrah's in California,  Yummy.

Armida - Decent wine but the Winery grounds are the best in Dry Creek Valley. Great picnic grounds and a Boche Ball court that overlooks the valley.

Michel-Schlumberger - Outstanding Cabs - as good as Caymus for one-third the price.  Nice winery grounds as well.

By the way, the foreground fountain model  is a Poser/Vue hybrid I created.  The background image is a photo I took of Dry Creek Valley from the deck of Armida Winery.
