Description
If I've read my "Complete British Insects" book right (big thanks to a friend who bought me a copy recently :) ), this is a "Small Heath" butterfly.
I didn't quite get this as a sharp as I'd like, I've still got alot to learn about using this macro lens in the field. Adding a little sharpening in Photoshop made it presentable enough to share.
Used manual focus (much easier that auto for macros), Tamron 180mm macro, Canon 580 EX TTL flash with a sto-fen diffuser. Hand held.
Tips for improving really appeciated :)
[Canon 20d - Tamron 180 1:1 macro]
1/250 f16.0 ISO 400

Yes, a bit soft but coloures are wanderful. I would crop a bit at left side.

An excellent shot - I'm no macro expert so can't help but looks good to me - like the compo :)

Superb detail on this fuzzy little critter! The flash worked well here!
