I have one word (arguably) for you: SUPERSAMPLE... antialiasing is one thing, but when you are doing a high res still with gently-curving or flat reflections in it, you'll want to supersample it... it's under material params, oye... and yeah it slows render time way down. I like the idea you have here though. Tight bangin.
