I think that anyone that's ever had online friendships can appreciate the anxiety in this piece. Thank you for reading....Leah
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security
and you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight
after a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers
and you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn...

One can only hope that it's a computer malfunction and not a heart malfunction. The flow was perfect for the emotion shared in this piece. Well written. And, to add mine: nocturnecsh@yahoo.com

First, most excellent written work! Someone once told me "you cannot lose what you never really had"? (I hope that came out the way I intended it to be). It seems to me it's the other person's real loss? Hang tough! My best, T.P.

Your works has definitely got better my dear friend. It is good because I thought it was already excellent. But then when a kind heart is put with a mind like yours I think magic can happen. Oh and hi there Leah hope you are well ;0)

I think we can all relate to the emotions that an online friend can stir up. Excellent portrayal of online friendships :o)
